PRENATAL NUTRITION

A nutrition consultation before, during, or after pregnancy may benefit you for reasons such as:

Preconception: If how you manage the way you eat needs improvement, ideally the best time to do this is before you get pregnant. Making the necessary changes to support a healthy pregnancy can take time and be a challenge. For certain individuals, dietary changes might improve their chances of conception. Research shows that your diet (and your partner’s diet) prior to conception can effect fertility. Even if you aren’t struggling with fertility, research also shows what you and your partner eat prior to conception can have an effect on your baby that could last a lifetime.

Pregnancy: Throughout your pregnancy you might have questions and concerns about what and how much to eat. You may have a specific medical condition, such as diabetes or celiac disease that requires a certain diet to be followed. Additionally, during pregnancy, some women develop health complications that can be improved with diet changes. Jen is trained in medical nutrition therapy and can assist you with your pregnancy related health conditions.

Postpartum: After birth, sometimes your own nourishment can take a backseat to the demands of your new life. It can be wise to have a strategic nourishment plan in place prior to delivery to help you stay strong and energized during this time. If you plan to breastfeed, you might like to work with Jen to create a diet plan that supports your continued increased nutrition needs throughout this time. You might also have general questions or concerns regarding your postpartum nutrition.
