Verifying Health insurance coverage

Even if you have an excellent insurance policy it does not mean you have coverage for nutrition services. Plans can vary within the same carrier. To verify your nutrition coverage, please call the 800 number on the back of your card and ask to speak with a representative from member services. Please ask the representative the following questions:

1.      Do I have nutrition services on my current insurance policy and if I do, can I meet with Jennifer Carlson, RD of Peaceful Nutrition Practice?

2.      Do I need a specific diagnosis to see a Registered Dietitian or can I visit a Registered Dietitian for preventative measures / general wellness? If I do need a diagnosis, is my diagnosis covered? [You can get this diagnosis from your doctor]

3.      How many covered visits do I have per calendar year?

4.      What is considered a calendar year for my current policy?

5.      Do I have a co-pay or deductible for nutrition services?

ADDITIONAL Questions you may have…

What happens if Peaceful Nutrition Practice works with my health insurance company but when I called the insurance company they told me I have a yearly deductible I have not met?

In the event you have a deducible Peaceful Nutrition Practice will not be able to initially bill your insurance company directly. Therefore, payment of $99 is due at the initial visit and $50is due at each follow up visit. Upon request, we will provide you with the appropriate documentation to submit to your insurance company to show receipt of the services. This will allow you to “pay down” your deductible. Once your deductible has been met and you have nutrition services on your policy, we can then directly bill your insurance company.

What happens if I have an insurance that you do not participate with?

In the event you carry insurance that we are considered out of network (Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, Health New England, Etc. ) for you will need to pay for your counseling session at the time of service. We are happy to provide you with a “Superbill” and/or an itemized invoice you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. We cannot guarantee Reimbursement as this is based on your policy’s standards. Please call your insurance company’s member services number to verify how reimbursement works under your current insurance policy.

Do you accept Health Saving Account (HAS’s) debit or credit cards?

Please contact your HSA representative and ask if you may pay for nutrition services with this card.
